    Happy Veterans Day

    Post  Joencalif2 on Fri Nov 11, 2016 10:35 am

It is amazing watching the mindless protesters marching down the streets of our cities, burning cars, tagging buildings, screaming out obscenities, along with signs read "F" Trump and so on. Yet these same ignorant protesters don't realize that they should be so thankful that they live in a country that allows them to voice their opinion, gather in groups for PEACEFUL demonstrations, and yet the spit in the face and burn the flag of the very place they can voice their dissent without fear of police or government reprisal. If they so love "Bernie" a socialist then go to Venezuela, Columbia and other countries where Socialism is the law of the land and see how you like REAL repression. It's time for these mindless dolts to realize that they live in a country where free elections and peaceful transitions of power exist....or would they prefer the alternative.... God Bless America and our Veterans on this day of remembrance.....maybe these protestors should pause and give thanks to those that served and died for America so they can go out and do what they are doing....

I've been delivering groceries to keep me active. Not for the money. It's only part-time, but that makes it even better. I love the job. I didn't think I would. I thought I might be OK with it, but I never expected to like it as much as I do.

Today I got a card from the CEO of the company with a pin that shows I'm a veteran of the Air Force. I also got a $50 gift card for being a vet. They were probably going to give it to me yesterday but we were so busy they never could get to it and I was out of the store a lot more than I was in it.

That was completely unbelievable to me! The company isn't tiny, but they're not huge either. In this town there aren't more than 4 stores total, though the surrounding area has another 5 or 6. I haven't worked there for 3 months yet. Plus I'm part time. To go out of their way like that for every veteran in the company, regardless of employment status, is more than I expected, much more than I imagined could happen.

Every place else I worked I got a mass-produced card with a machine-inscribed signature, and that was it. Even then it was usually only for Christmas and maybe my birthday. My last grocery job (doing produce) they let me go because I wasn't fast enough. (Actually, based on the last thing I was told in my training I was waiting to be told to do more. I was already so bored I started doing more anyway, but apparently not enough).
