Companies used Clinton fundraisers to lobby State Department

Wow! Look what USA Today just discovered that nobody else knew!

The nexus among private companies, Hillary Clinton’s State Department and the Clinton family foundations is closer and more complex than even Donald Trump has claimed so far.

While it is widely known that some companies and foreign governments gave money to the foundations, perhaps in an effort to gain favor, one of the key parts of the puzzle hasn’t been reported: At least a dozen of those same companies lobbied the State Department, using lobbyists who doubled as major Clinton campaign fundraisers.

Those companies gave as much as $16 million to the Clinton charities. At least four of the lobbyists they hired are “Hillblazers,” the Clinton campaign’s name for supporters who have raised $100,000 or more for her current White House race. Two of the four also raised funds for Clinton’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid.

USA TODAY reached these conclusions by obtaining federal lobbying data from the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics for 2009-2013, Clinton’s tenure as secretary of State. Reporters then compared the data with donor lists made public by the Clinton nonprofits and federal campaign financial records.

I submit USA Today "reached these conclusions" for a whole different reason. I'm betting they're betting their name is plastered all over some emails released by Wikileaks and they're trying to make themselves look honest in case too many people notice.

Just a hunch, mind you. But that could be part of the reason why others, like Politico and WaPo are suddenly looking like they might start trying to do their jobs. (Don't worry. They're really not. It's part of the construction of a mirage that's supposed to fool you into believing it, though.

An alternative theory that isn't far-fetched but is less plausible. They see the email dumps as damaging to Hildebeast and they're trying to salvage all of the credibility they're on record as giving away to shill for Hitlery in the first place. If she doesn't win and their audience has dropped significantly due to their own crooked behavior, a number of those might be forced out of business (PLEASE NYT PLEASE NYT) (PLEASE WAPO PLEASE WAPO) and sold off for pennies. Just imagine a bunch of people with no talent and no serviceable skills suddenly unemployed by their own hand. I mean, NPR can't absorb them all. Unless some janitors retire or something. Anyway, they could be trying to head off their demise by pretending they're really loveable lugs and we should keep them around. The problem with this theory is that they are definitely on record as dumping their reputations in the trash to push her into the White House. For this to work they'd have to believe the emails would hurt her and somehow they'd escape. But as unlikely as that is, they have to pin their hopes on something. And if she isn't it.....
