Clinton Email Scandal: Hillary's Hypocrisy And Media's Bias Revealed

It's no surprise, and certainly no accident, that the now-infamous 11-year-old videotape of a potty-mouthed Donald Trump sexually bragging like a poorly raised pubescent teen should surface when it did. It managed to eclipse a far-bigger story — the one about the emails revealing Hillary's unbelievable hypocrisy and the media's ongoing bias.

Leaked comments by Hillary Clinton in speeches made to Wall Street banks and major corporations in 2013 and 2014 — speeches that over the years netted her a cool $22 million in "speaking fees" -- reveal that, while publicly pretending to sympathize with Occupy Wall Street and other far-left groups, Clinton was in fact quite cozy with the people she supposedly reviled.

The WikiLeaks trove of some 2,060 emails reportedly came from Hillary Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta's email and contains some of the words Hillary used to address the bankers in private. We would note that, as of Monday, the emails had not been verified as authentic. But if and when they are, they should be devastating.

For instance, Hillary Clinton in recent months has emerged as a major foe of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the 12-nation free-trade deal that President Obama has pushed hard to get passed. Clinton has opposed the deal since October 2015. But she once called TPP "the gold standard of trade agreements." So Americans have become confused.

But excerpts of her speech show little confusion on her part — just pure, rank hypocrisy. Speaking to the powerful investment bankers and industrialists, she noted how it was important for a politician to have a "public" stance, and a "private" stance on some key issues.

"I mean, politics is like sausage being made," she said in a 2013 speech to the National Multi-Housing Council.
"If everybody's watching, you know, all of the backroom discussions and the deals, you know, then people get a little nervous, to say the least," she said in the speech transcript. "So, you need both a public and a private position."
Believe one thing in public, another thing in private: That's a pretty good working definition of hypocrisy.

Yes, Hillary has publicly opposed TPP, often sounding like a hard-core trade protectionist.

But speaking to a Brazilian bank in 2013, she pushed for "open trade and open borders."

"My dream is a hemispheric common market," she said, "with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it ..."

How about getting "tough" on Wall Street, as Hillary has always claimed? One of the emails containing a speech delivered to Goldman Sachs was titled: "Clinton Talks About Holding Wall Street Accountable Only for Political Reasons."

Others were suggestively tagged: "Clinton Suggests Wall Street Insiders Are What Is Needed to Fix Wall Street," "Clinton Touts Her Relationship to Wall Street as a Senator," and "Clinton Is More Favorable to Canadian Health Care and Single Payer." Some foe of power and privilege.

Not surprisingly, Bernie Sanders supporters whom Hillary has ardently wooed for their political support are none too happy that they, apparently, have been played for fools by Clinton, who does a good job of pretending to be anti-Wall Street and antiglobalist.

"This is a very clear illustration of why there is a fundamental lack of trust from progressives for Hillary Clinton," Tobita Chow, chair of the People's Lobby in Chicago, which endorsed Bernie Sanders, told Reuters.

Worse still, is an email purportedly from Hillary outlining her true beliefs about immigration. "The main reason behind successful immigration should be painfully obvious to even the most dimwitted of observers: Some groups of people are almost always highly successful given only half a chance (Jews, Hindus/Sikhs and Chinese people, for example), while others (Muslims, blacks and Roma, for instance) fare badly almost irrespective of circumstances."

It goes without saying, this shocking racial and ethnic stereotyping if it indeed reflects Hillary's thinking would doom a Republican candidate. The media so far haven't even really reported it.

That points to one other major issue: The emails show that Clinton has what can been described as a "cozy" relationship with the mainstream lapdog media bordering on sycophancy.

As Glenn Greenwald, a Pulitzer Prize-winning left-leaning activist, blogger and author noted, the Clinton campaign went to extraordinary lengths to shape and control stories done by the chummy Big Media. "At times," Greenwald wrote, "Clinton's campaign staff not only internally drafted the stories they wanted published but even specified what should be quoted 'on background' and what should be described as 'on the record.' "

Reporters were invited to special "off-the-record" events such as cocktail parties, to imbibe not just alcoholic drinks but also the campaign's political agenda and background spin.

As we've noted before, this is further ample evidence of the media's pro-liberal bias, and how the media work to back left-leaning Democratic candidates over conservative-leaning Republicans. So let's be clear: The media are mostly partisans of one side in the debate and can't be trusted, given their bias, to report fairly, and accurately, what takes place.

So we'll continue to hear about Trump's stupid comments about women as the be-all and end-all of this presidential campaign, and how it "disqualifies" him from the presidency. Meanwhile, they will ignore Hillary's too-numerous-to-count failures as a "public servant," Bill Clinton's alleged sexual assaults, her family foundation's possible corruption, her criminal misconduct with her State Department home-brew email server, and her self-admitted hypocrisy and lying about who she is and what she stands for.

Possible corruption? Have they been reading the same leaked emails, testimony and unshredded documents I have?
