Armed Kidnapping, Narcotics Trafficking, Extortion: State Attorney Investigating 66 Cases of Misconduct Under Broward County Sheriff Israel

It’s always the loudest guy in the room who ends up having much to hide.

This is likely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The national spotlight will help uncover much that incapable local reporters don’t have the guts or moxie to write.

    Certainly, more to come.

There are more than 66 investigations by the Broward County State Attorney’s office into Broward County Sheriff’s deputies and employees, ranging from drug trafficking to kidnapping since 2012. All the internal investigations occurred under embattled Sheriff Scott Israel’s watch, whose office is now under investigation for allegations that his deputies failed to allow first responders from treating patients at the scene of Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on Feb. 14, and that multiple deputies failed to enter the school to defend the children during the rampage that left 17 people dead, this reporter has learned.

“Approximately 66 BSO (Broward Sheriff’s Office) deputies and other employees, including supervisory personnel were arrested for, charged with, and/or convicted of crimes that run the gamut from Armed Kidnapping, to Battery, Assault, Falsifying records, Official Misconduct, Narcotics trafficking, and other crimes involving dishonesty and violence in the years immediately proceeding 2013 when Jermaine was killed. Most of the offenses on the list occurred in the years 2012-2013,” according to court records filed by Schoen against Israel and the Broward County Sheriff deputy defendants.

“Often the cases against BSO (Broward Sheriff’s Office) employees are resolved by guilty pleas resulting in short or no period of incarceration and a chance for the criminal record to be cleared after a period of time.”

Broward County Sheriff’s office could not be reached immediately for comment.

The state AG says there are still a number of investigations of the sheriff's office going on now. Some of them relating to the cowardice at the school. But she wouldn't go into specifics to avoid compromising investigations or screwing up any charges that may be brought.

The sheriff is full of great advice!

There's a video on the page that won't post here. If you don't want to try to stomach the whole thing, his great advice begins about a minute into the video.

At Active Shooter Training, Broward Sheriff Israel Instructs People to ‘Run and Hide’; Says Department is ‘A Defensive’ Unit that Doesn’t ‘Attack’

A video has surfaced from a Broward County Sheriff’s active shooter training session where Sheriff Scott Israel instructs a room full of citizens, police officers and SWAT members to run and hide when faced with an active shooter.

Israel also claimed during the training session that his officers were trained to put themselves last in an active shooter scenario, although his officers certainly put themselves first based on the events of the Feb. 14 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. In addition to the students injured, 17 students were gunned down and killed while sheriff’s officers refused to enter the school.

But his officers did run and hide. They got that part down. As many as four officers refused to enter the school while the shooter was inside.

Israel earlier this week said it wasn’t his responsibility if officers didn’t have the courage to enter the building. Perhaps some of those officers were in the room when Israel instructed people to run and hide.

Israel, on the video, also stresses his department is not offensive. They are defensive, he stresses. They don’t “attack,” he said.

Does that mean you are told to not charge into a building to subdue an active shooter?

    Sure sounds like it.

Since when are police defensive when innocent  lives are at stake?

We’re not sure where Israel received his training but it sure sounds and appears like he is in the wrong profession.

And it is quite likely people have died because of it.

Israel’s ‘defensive’ department has a history of mistakes and standing down during mass shootings.

In the wake of the Parkland, Florida shooting earlier this month, numerous students and lawmakers have called on Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel to resign over his inaction as leader of the law enforcement department.

According to The Daily Caller, Israel has a history of failure when it comes to responding to crisis situations, including a 2017 shooting at the Fort Lauderdale Airport.

99-page report drafted by department officials admitted the agency mishandled that shooting, adding that the department failed to take control of the shooting area, where chaos ensued and the suspect killed five people and injured six others.

Well, the sheriff has a lot on his plate. He has to meet with Muslims in their mosques. He has to deputize some of those Muslims to balance things out and let Americans be killed. He needs to protect his deputies because those drugs aren't gonna run themselves. And who will do the kidnapping if his Barneys rush in someplace and forget to put their bullets in their guns?

How could somebody elect a person like this? There's a very good explanation. He's from the same district that keeps sending Debbie Whatsername Schultz to DC.
