Roberts: Democrats Whispering Clinton Might Step Aside From Race

Cokie Roberts said Monday on NPR that there were whispers by Democratic Party establishment members that Hillary Clinton may have to step aside from the race because of her health, Mediaite reports.

Clinton’s health has become the central focus of the campaign after she was forced to leave Sunday’s Sept. 11 memorial in New York and was taped almost collapsing and getting helped into a van. Her campaign later revealed she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday, leading to criticism for keeping the illness secret for two days.

“People are angry at the lack of transparency,” Roberts said on Morning Edition. “It was hours before the pneumonia diagnosis was revealed, after seeing this incredibly damaging video of her being helped and stumbling into a van. And look, there’s a reason why the campaign’s not transparent. Obviously, it gives Trump ammunition.”

Roberts said Donald Trump had set this storyline up for months with his references to Clinton’s lack of stamina, saying that he knew she would eventually fall victim to exhaustion or illness.

“The fact that it comes now, when the polls are tightening and Democrats were already saying Hillary was the only candidate who could not beat Trump, and it’s taking her off the campaign trail … it has them very nervously beginning to whisper about having her step aside and finding another candidate,” she said.

I'm wary about taking anything Dopie Roberts says at face value. But let's assume she isn't playing like she's in the know about something and actually does. For once.

That creates a whole host of problems for the Democrits. Keeping her around does, too, but it's one they're stuck with right now.

But let's assume they yank it from her. (We might as well also assume, just for the purpose of this argument, that anybody involved won't have to end up in the witness protection program.) Who will it be?

Biteme is somebody a lot of them like. He might even be able to tangle with Trump. But the hard-core feminazis would be pissed. It's a girl's turn. It's gotta be a girl this time. Period. (It makes no difference if she is or isn't qualified. It makes no difference if she is or isn't honest. All that matters is it's a girl.) They might persuade some of them to stick around, but the extremists won't stand for it. Especially using a guy who didn't even bother to run in the first place. Watch most of them jump to the nutjob Jill Stein.

OK, so those people could be happy Lizzie Warren. First thing, though, she was smart enough not to run this time because all of the fraud she's been perpetrating for decades is still too fresh. (And maybe she found a horse head in her bed one night.) Trump would be all over it. And since it's unlikely she'd win anyway, having him go after her now and dig it all back up would churn it and make it viable enough to maybe blow her chances to run later. So I'm not sure they could talk her into it. But even if they could, there'd be a similar reaction against her as there would be against Crazy Joe since it would be seen by some as an affirmative action thing (a woman had to be replaced by a woman). So Biteme would piss a lot of anti-male women off, but another woman would turn a lot of self-blinded men off, men who have been pretending the party isn't really about quotas and preferences.

OK, so maybe they could make the case for Bernie. I mean, he did run. And it's well-known that any chance he might have had under normal circumstances were stolen from him to make sure Broomhillary got the nomination. Some of the extremist feminists might tone it down under the circumstances (I still think a large number of the would vote for the greenhorn). The men with blinders on wouldn't be miffed about it.

But would he do it? After it was intentionally stolen out from under him? I doubt it. Taking it under these circumstances could be seen historically as a last resort guy (as would any of the others for that matter). Would somebody who maybe should have gotten the nomination only to have it stolen away be willing to go down in history as a last resort? I don't know for sure. But I know I wouldn't want that.

That might mean they'd have to find another sucker somebody else. Good luck. Maybe Huma Weiner's hubby would do it.

Then there's the logistics. None of them have been running. On the one hand that could give them a slight advantage. Trump hasn't had their foibles to work with, so they'd start off clean. But they also haven't been running. So there'd be a lot of research, campaigning, making ads, making appearances, all sorts of things they'd need to do to get caught up in a super short time period. It's grueling enough when you have all that time after the convention. It can be a major nightmare, maybe even unbearable, to try to do the same thing in less than 100 days.

No matter how this turns out for them, they should make it their first priority to punish Debbie Whatsername Schultz and Hildbeast for putting them in this position. It was the greed of one and the crookedness of both that got them into this mess.

And in the end they lose anyway. Which I still think they were on their way to doing with The Wicked Witch of the Left hiding herself from public so much.

Again, that's assuming Dopey Roberts really knows something and Broomhillary is on her way out. Trusting that Dopey might know anything is usually a heckuva stretch.

Hillary Gets Sick, Thousands Yell ‘Bring Back Bernie!’

Hillary Clinton, it turns out, is a human woman with a human woman’s immune system. The Democratic nominee’s campaign confirmed Monday that she’d been diagnosed with pneumonia. While she’ll surely live — her doctor already says she’s “recovering nicely” — opponents across the spectrum are using the incident to revive conspiracy theories and question her fitness to seek the presidency. And, of course, to support Bernie Sanders.

Some particularly optimistic diehard fans of the Vermont Senator are using Clinton’s sniffles to mount a throwback campaign in favor of her onetime primary challenger (despite this being entirely impossible). A hashtag, #BringBernieBack, which has been quietly floating along since Sanders conceded earlier this summer, roared back to prominence in the last 24 hours, after news of her illness broke. According to a Vocativ analysis, the hashtag has been tweeted more than fifteen thousand times since Clinton first appeared ill at a 9/11 memorial Sunday morning.

Some of the tweets mock Clinton’s condition (which around one million Americans will be treated for this year) while emphasizing that the 75-year-old Sanders is in good shape. Others seem to consider a serious option of a comeback (again, it is not clear how this is even remotely possible, since Sanders lost fair and square to Clinton and then asked the world to vote for her in July).

The hashtag has already been in use by Bernie supporters since the official nomination of Clinton, usually pointing to pieces about the Clinton Foundation and the endless probe into her emails. Her illness brought the tag new life — some by real-deal Bernie supporters, but also by the standard mix of pro-Trump Republicans and trolls.

Bernie Sanders is more physically fit than HRC, plus he got screwed in the primaries by the DNC!
    I think it's time to #BringBernieBack !

Maybe the diehards can convince him. Or maybe he'd rather spend his time at his (third) expensive piece of property in Vermont, away from all of these people.
