Democrats wonder and worry: Why isn’t Clinton far ahead of Trump?

What they really mean is this.

"We made up phony numbers. We protected her from bad press as much as we could (considering who we're working with). We asked easy questions. We wondered why, but tried not to make a big deal out of her lack of press conferences. We altered camera angles. We made excuses for her lousy answers to questions. We asked softball questions when we (rarely) got the chance to ask her anything. We ignored her bizarre behavior on the campaign trail that could only be caused by physical and mental health issues. We made sure not to air her obvious frailties and moments when she clearly lost track of what was going on and/or where she was.

"We went after Trump. We dug up every piece of trash on him we could find. We made up stories about him, his wife, his kids. We called him names. We openly questioned - usually for hours on end - his sanity. We debated on panel after panel if he is really fit to lead this country. We opined as much as we could about the problems he might be causing by being too friendly with some countries and too dismissive of others. We shot every piece of footage the rent-a-mobs could give us at every protest, even if only two "protesters" were there. We did interview after interview after interview with every #NEVERTRUMP person who would talk to us. We asked medical and mental "experts" on live TV what's wrong with him. We slanted polls so harshly that, in some cases, we had trouble going to sleep at night due to our lost credibility.

"After all of that, stupid Americans STILL don't back Hillary like they should. WHY???? What the hell is wrong with those morons???"

With Election Day less than two months away, Democrats are increasingly worried that Hillary Clinton has not built a formidable lead against Donald Trump despite his historic weaknesses as a national party candidate.
Even the Democratic nominee’s advisers acknowledge that she must make changes, and quickly. Clinton leads Trump by three percentage points, having fallen from her high of nine points in August, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average. That tightening has frustrated many Clinton allies and operatives, who are astonished that she isn’t running away with this race, given Trump’s deep unpopularity and his continuing stream of controversial comments.

“Generally, I’m concerned, frankly,” said former Democratic Senate leader Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.). “It still looks positive, and I think if you look at the swing states and where she is right now, she’s got a lead. But it’s certainly not in the bag. We have two months to go, and I think it’s going to be a competitive race all the way through. I would say she’s got at least a 60 percent chance of winning.”

When you want an expert, none are better than a guy who was Majority Leader in the Senate until he went down to humiliating defeat at the peak of his power.
